Confession Time

by Rustic Garden Bistro on July 26, 2010

We have a confession to make.

When we decided on Monday (7/19) to officially tie the knot on Friday (7/23), we weren’t going to tell anyone. On Tuesday (7/20), we cleared our calendars (sorry, Anne!), booked two flights to San Francisco for the weekend, and reserved a room at the Mark Hopkins. On Wednesday (7/21) over my lunch break from the office, we went down to the Courthouse to apply for our marriage license. On Friday (7/23), we detoured through there one more time before skipping town for the weekend.

And we weren’t going to tell anyone.

But what happened over the weekend was just so awesome, we can’t keep it to ourselves.

We have a busy, busy week ahead of us, but as soon as we get a chance to sit down, we’ll tell you about how gracious the folks at Chez Panisse were to gift us with a copy of their cookbook (signed by Alice), and how Tyler Florence shook Mr. RGBistro’s hand not once, but twice.

In the meantime, please head over to Dishin’ in the Kitchen. Also more on this later, but the quickie version is: Mac and I sat down recently to talk about our goals for the RGB… and it’s all podcasted on Mac’s site. Mac: THANK YOU. It was such a pleasure to chat with you!

Lastly, Debra of Smith Bites, your strategy for spreading out your comments over a few days worked, congrats on being the recipient of our RGB herbs! Holler with your mailing address when you get a chance…

We’re sorry for ditching you all this week. We’ll be back to our normal routine soon; promise.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr. and Mrs. RGBistro

Love the story; no big pretentious thing going on but what a nice one to hear and how exciting to get Alice’s cookbook. Great wedding gift.

Wishing you both the very best!

I have a first thing to say: congratulations to you both!!!! I have a second thing to say: elopements f-ing ROCK. Good for you for doing what’s right by you–and see the aftermath as the perfect reason to throw an AMAZING party. Just ply your guests with wine and champagne, re-recite your vows and go out to an awesome place for dinner and ALL will be forgiven, because you can make it as touching and personal as you want and your guests would have hearts of stone to not melt at all of that wonderfulness. :-)

I kept holding off the congratulations until 1) we see you in person, and/or 2) you change your Facebook relationship status. But, since neither of those has yet happened…congratulations! We would have loved to have been there, but we totally understand. We’ll celebrate later!
